Gentlemanlyness: A word I just made up.

I’d be heartbroken to find out if President Obama was a raging drunk behind the scenes…lol

I’ll say this. This is the picture of a guy who truly loves his wife. You can say what you want about marriage, commitment, and economic stimulus plans, but this guy is a winner. More importantly, this picture deals with an artform that is slowly wittling away.

Manners. Class. Etiquette. The refined artform of being a gentleman.

As much as I like to screw around, goof off, there is a time when I clamp down and put on full gentleman mode. The kind that gets you noticed and referred and that can make or break a person’s day/event/time.

As much emphasis as we put on “swagger”, “skills”, and material goods, we often forget that it is the small interactions between people, manners, that make or break our successes in life. In most cases, showing a bit more gentlemanlyness or doing an extra classy move doesn’t require much more effort. Just a bit of thought.

Without further rambling;  the Awesome Inc Guide to Gentlemanlyness. (yes, gentlemanlyness is a word lol)

1. Greatfulness/gratitude in advance: It’s easy to be thankful for things received. More noble, however, is the appreciation for things that we don’t have in our posession. As well as the very small things that make life liveable.

2. Treat people the way you’d like to be treated: Think of the best service you’ve ever had. Of course you don’t have to wait hand and foot on everyone. Carrying the same attitude and enthusiasm goes a long way however.

This of course does not denote “simping” It is simple acting what you believe. That the people around you are around you because they are good people. Treat them such.

3. Personal Touch: With email, twitter, facebook, and all of our other various electronic media, it’s good to get a personalized, handwritten correspondance or if not, an actual phone call. It’s that easy…

If all else fails, a desire to try will suffice enough. Skimming through an etiquette book will help you brush up on things, and get it tight. CHEA!

Better copyright that one. So true though, I think these guys are a dying breed. But I think it has alot to do with how they are raised…
